Why Holistic Lactation?
Holistic Lactation views breastfeeding as a complex system that takes the whole mother into consideration, her body and mind, history, diet, environment, and also her familial health.
A holistic lactation consultant often works together with specialists, including body-workers, occupational therapists, dentists and doctors, nutritionists and allergists, and therapists or hypnotherapists who can give emotional support when needed.

Julie Brill, IBCLC, CCCE, CL, Online Consults Only
Julie provides holistic, virtual lactation consultations. Her focus is always on providing families with the support and information they need. Consultations are a judgement-free zone. Julie knows that there is no one-size-fits-all solution to infant feeding, so each consultation includes an individualized, written care plan to help families meet their feeding goals. Common matters addressed in consultations include preparing for breastfeeding during pregnancy, nipple and breast pain, concerns about low milk production and infant growth, helping babies with latch and position, addressing oral ties, overproduction, healing plugged ducts or mastitis, returning to paid work or school, introducing solid foods, and weaning. Julie has advanced training in holistic lactation and addressing oral ties.
Julie also teaches private, virtual, prenatal breastfeeding, natural childbirth, and VBAC classes. Her childbirth classes focus on evidence-based education that increases confidence and normalizes pregnancy, birth, and lactation. She helps parents fill their toolbox with accurate information and labor techniques that work. Her prenatal breastfeeding classes focus on what parents need to know about feeding a newborn, including what families she meets postpartum tell her they wish they’d known. Prepare for Cesarean Birth, Heal Faster workshops are also available for parents who expect to birth by cesarean.
Julie is a certified childbirth educator and labor doula who has been supporting families in the childbearing year since 1992 and training childbirth educators and labor doulas for CAPPA since 2003.
