A three-week course, total 4.5 hours. Feb 11, 18, 25, for mothers’ postpartum healthcare team.
The emotional toll of breastfeeding problems can range from feelings of failure and loss of confidence to postpartum depression and to feelings of grief and devastation that can monopolize the minds and feelings of mothers for months and sometimes years.
In this course, I explain basic axioms of neuroplasticity and mindfulness, followed by guided exercises.
The experiential part of the class allows the theory to be “known” in an embodied way.
In these exercises, the participants:
Learn how to quickly shift into deep relaxation, so needed in these covid-times. Make useful discoveries:
• About the way the mind and body are connected
• How to shift out of the fight, flight or freeze response into the state of rest and restore,
• How to quickly access states of peace and wholeness, and to release tension.
We learn how to dis-identify ourselves from our professional role and meet the mother human-to-human, creating calm, unhurried “space” for the mother to integrate her experience.
At the same time, we discuss ways to use what we are learning in our unique work situations with mothers, to support them toward meeting their goals.
Scripts are provided, for practice at home.
The first approximately 45 minutes are for learning and experiencing; the second 15 – 45 minutes (for those who wish to remain) is our time to question, discuss, share, and learn from one another.
The course is three consecutive weeks.
The group size is limited to six participants.
The fee is $120.
